Omega-3 Fatty Acids with Vitamins for Allergy-related Itching and Healthy Skin in Dogs and Cats
Product Description: Derma 3 is a unique, potent fatty acids formula to help control allergy-related itching, reduce inflammation and maintain healthy skin. It also has antioxidant benefits.
Cleansing and grooming, and a nutritionally complete diet, including protein, fatty acids, vitamins and minerals are essential for healthy skin. Pets with skin diseases may need a dietary essential supplemented to help restore the skins normal functions. Pets with allergies itch and scratch, rather than get runny noses or watery eyes like humans. Allergens (like many of the same that affect humans: dust, dander, foods, grass, mold, pollens) may be inhaled, eaten or absorbed through the skin. They cause the immune cells to release inflammatory substances, causing itching and scratching, which may lead to infections.
The Omega-3 fatty acids in Derma 3 help control allergy-related itching by inhibiting the inflammatory substances released from the immune cells. The Omega-3 fatty acids in Derma 3 are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). They are derived from fish oil and are not in most pet foods. Fatty acids such as Omega-6 and Omega-9 are typically in pet foods, and usually do not need to be supplemented. Too much of the Omega-6 or Omega-9s may cause inflammation. Derma 3 contains Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA, DHA) and antioxidants vitamins A and E. Together, these nutrients have been shown to reduce inflammation associated with free radical damage common in skin allergies and inflammatory skin diseases. Omega-3 fatty acids can also improve hair coat and maintain healthy skin. Indications for Use: A supplementary source of Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins where dietary intake is insufficient or when skin and coat condition would benefit from supplementation.
